You may choose to provide personal data (such as your name, address, telephone number and email address) on this Web site. Here are the ways you may provide the information and the types of information you may submit. We also tell you how we may use the information.
Information or support requests
If you wish to obtain information or support from VISA EUROPE you may do so by contacting VISA EUROPE through various email links or information requests on this site. The specific personal data that you must submit will depend upon the information or support that you are requesting. VISA EUROPE will only use your information to contact you and provide the information or support you requested.
We occasionally may ask visitors to our Web site to complete online surveys and opinion polls about their activities, attitudes and interests. If you choose to participate, we use your response to produce survey results and, sometimes, to publish those results in aggregate on the site. We will hold these responses only as anonymous statistics. We will never disclose, sell or rent such information to any third parties. We do not process, use or keep any personal data about you in connection with your participation in a Web site survey unless you specifically agree to provide that information.
We will not send you any marketing materials (such as e.g. messages describing updates, new features or promotional offers) unless you have provided your opt-in consent to do so, for example, by registering to receive information about our products and services. You can choose to stop receiving these materials any time. Simply follow the instructions included in the e-mail or send a reply stating your request.
Cookies and log files
We use cookie technology as part of our web site’s statistical reporting. A cookie is a small piece of information sent by a web site that is saved on your hard disk by your computer's browser. It holds information a site may need to personalize your experience (i.e., rotating images on the visaeurope.com home page) and to gather web site statistical data, such as which pages are visited, what is downloaded, the Internet provider's domain name and country that our visitors come from (e.g. “aol.com,”) and the addresses of sites visited immediately before, and after, coming to visaeurope.com. The information in the cookies lets us trace your “click stream” activity (i.e., the paths taken by visitors to our site as they move from page to page.
We also use standard web server log files to help us count visitors and evaluate our site's technical capacity. We use this information to find out how many people visit Visaeurope.com, help us arrange the pages in the most user-friendly way, keep the site browser-friendly and to make our pages more useful to our visitors. We record information on site traffic but not information on individual visitors to our site.
We use Google Analytics to help us measure the effectiveness of our advertising and how visitors use our Sites.
The “help” portion of the toolbar on most browsers will tell you how to stop accepting new cookies, how to be notified when you receive a new cookie, and how to disable existing cookies. Remember, though, without cookies, you may not be able to take full advantage of all of our Web site features.

We do not sell, rent, trade or otherwise disclose personal data about our Web site visitors, except as described here. We may share information provided by our Web site visitors with service providers we have retained to perform various services on our behalf.

Visa Advertising Solutions (Visa Audiences) Opt-out
How to opt-out
In order to process your Visa transactions and deliver the security protections and other benefits you expect from Visa, we require four key pieces of information when a Visa card is used: the account number associated with the card; the location of the transaction; the time and date of the transaction; and the amount of the transaction.
The primary use of this data is to ensure Visa delivers on its promise of a secure, convenient and reliable payments experience. Another way we may use this data is for the creation of anonymous marketing reports that we provide to other companies. Anonymous reports compile data from a large cardholder population and contain no account level or other identifiable data. These companies use these anonymized reports to improve their marketing efforts. For example, a report may show that one postcode tends to spend more at auto parts stores than compared to other postcodes. The data used in these reports is combined and processed so that the reports cannot identify you or your specific Visa purchases.
If you do not want us to use your card number as part of the pool of anonymised data used in Visa Advertising Solutions, you may choose to opt out by clicking here.
Please note that your data will be transferred to the USA in order to facilitate your opt-out. We have taken steps to ensure that our hosting providers, provide the necessary level of protection for your information.
Limitations of this opt-out
If you choose to exercise this anonymous marketing opt-out, it will only impact our use of data from your registered card number in Visa's anonymous marketing initiatives. This opt-out will not stop our use of data in other aspects of Visa's business, such as:
- Processing transactions
- Risk and fraud prevention
- Maintenance and development of our systems
- Reporting on the state of our business
- Designing and operating our other products and services, or
- Providing information to card issuers, acquiring institutions and other Visa system stakeholders such as merchants and co-branded card partners.
In addition, this opt-out will not affect any of your preferences or the choices provided to you by the financial institution issuing your card. Please contact your financial institution if you want to change your preferences or choices regarding its use of your information.
How to maintain your opt-out choice
Because card numbers are not unique to you and may be reused, your opt-out will be honored for a period of five years. After the five year period, if your card number has not changed, you will need to resubmit your card number. If your card account number changes for any reason and you want to have your new card number registered for this marketing opt-out, you will need to submit the new card number. To opt out, please click here.
