Boosting financial literacy
For over 20 years, Visa has been a private sector leader in developing innovative, free programmes that help people learn the fundamentals of personal finance, including budgeting, saving, responsible spending and the wise use of credit.
Across Europe, Visa’s educational partnerships help young people manage their money in an increasingly digital world. We work in collaboration with expert organizations and in many instances with our client banks to provide resources and training, which have directly benefitted more than 1.1 million young people across Europe.
For example, in Turkey, our award winning business education partnership with our client banks has pioneered the country’s first financial education programme for young people: I Can Manage My Money.
The project is run in partnership with UNDP, Habitat Centre for Governance and Development and the Turkish Ministry of Development.
It uses peer to peer education to show young people how to budget and make wise choices regarding their finances. The programme launched in 2009, is active across the country’s major towns and cities as well as online and uses social channels like Facebook and Twitter to drive engagement.
