Visa to showcase the Future of Money at CARTES 2008

CARTES and IDentification - Paris-Nord Villepinte Exhibition Center, Halls 3 & 4, Visa at stand 4L018

Paris, 4 November 2008

Visa Europe and Visa Inc. (NYSE: V), the world’s largest retail electronic payment network, will be offering a taste of the future in payment technology at the 2008 CARTES and IDentification event in Paris. The company will be exhibiting real-life environments that demonstrate the impact that innovations in Visa payment technologies have on consumers’ daily lives, providing speed, convenience, value and choice.

CARTES is the key event for the smartcard, contactless and mobile payment industry at which the latest developments from card companies across the world are previewed and demonstrated.

Visa’s presence at the 2008 event will focus on the idea of a journey, with the theme ‘Payments flow better with Visa’. Visitors will be able to experience Visa payment innovations within a Retail Store, Home and Office environment, a working Cafe, Youth Area, and a Transit turnstile – all tied together via a series of ‘metro stops’ with downloadable information about Visa technologies.

Sandra Alzetta, SVP, Innovation, New product and Channel Development at Visa Europe commented: “A lot has changed in the world of payment technology since we came to CARTES last year. In the last 12 months we’ve completed successful mobile trials of Visa’s payWave technology with Barclaycard, Nokia and O2 in the UK as well as a number of other trials across Europe including France, Germany, Spain and Switzerland. This year we will be demonstrating a number of exciting technologies including mobile services, personalised instant issuance and authentication.”
