V PAY
V PAY is a new type of pan-European debit card, based entirely on chip and PIN. Some merchants across Europe can already accept payments on these cards.
Banks across Europe are currently preparing to add the new V PAY logo to their domestic debit cards. In doing so, they will create a more open and consistent European debit card network.
Over the coming years, millions of cardholders across Europe will carry debit cards that feature the V PAY logo. They will be able to use these cards when travelling in other European countries, in exactly the same way as they do in their own country.
V PAY has been created by Visa Europe. Because it takes full advantage of the latest EMV* chip standards, it will be cost-effective for you to accept.
Key features:
- Secure
Because V PAY is a chip-only, PIN-only debit card, the risk of fraudulent or disputed transactions is virtually eliminated. - Fast route to acceptance
Any merchants with EMV* chip and PIN terminals can easily and immediately accept V PAY. No technical modifications are necessary – usually it is just a matter of displaying V PAY decals at their premises. - More customers
Increasing numbers of European cardholders will soon have V PAY cards, which they will want to use in their own country, and across Europe. - Consumer confidence
Because it is based on chip and PIN, V PAY benefits from a consistent pan-European acceptance experience. Cardholders will therefore be confident in using their debit cards in more locations. - Low operating costs
Because it is a chip and PIN debit card, V PAY is extremely cost-effective to accept.
