Cross-border acquiring
If your business operates in more than one European country, you may want a contract with one bank that enables you to accept Visa cards for sales in several countries. These banks are called cross-border acquirers.
Visa Europe has a cross-border acquiring programme that enables these banks to offer merchants a single contract covering up to 34 European countries.
This means you can avoid the complexity and expense of separate contracts in each country.
The benefits of cross-border acquiring are:
- Streamline your operations
This type of centralised acquiring means no need for separate terms of business, separate settlement periods and complicated behind-the-scenes reconciliation. It streamlines your operations and saves you administrative costs. - Benefit from increased choice
You will have increased choice and commercial freedom to select an acquiring bank outside your domestic market. This could be particularly useful if the acquiring bank has specialist services or expertise that you can’t find in your own market.
