FAQs
Why should I use Verified by Visa?
Verified by Visa protects your card against unauthorised
transactions, giving you complete confidence when shopping online.
Your Visa transaction will only be authorised when you supply your
password.
Why do we need Verified by Visa? Hasn’t Visa been taking
my security seriously before?
Visa has always made your security a top priority. Verified by Visa
is an additional layer of security to give you total confidence
when shopping online.
I was asked to sign up for Verified by Visa when I was
in the middle of buying something online. Is this a
scam?
Verified by Visa is an official Visa service, designed to give you
extra protection and peace of mind when shopping online. You’ll be
asked if you want to join Verified by Visa if you’re shopping at a
web site which has signed up to the service and if your Visa card
issuer supports it. If you decide to sign up, this will take place
before your transaction is complete.
I’m interested in signing up for Verified by Visa. What
should I do?
You can join Verified by Visa if the bank or organisation that
issued your Visa card offers it. Visit our
Sign up page to find out if your card issuer offers
Verified by Visa, and to sign up.
I’ve signed up. But how can I tell that I’m in a genuine
Verified by Visa process and not part of a scam?
As part of the payment verification process, you will see a
personal message that you provided when you signed up for Verified
by Visa. Only you and your bank know what the message is so you can

What do I do if I forget my password?
If you forget your password you can easily reset it – the exact
process will depend on your bank. In most cases, you will see a
‘Forgot your password?’ link. When you click the link, you’ll be
asked for some information that you provided when you registered.
Your password will then be securely and instantly reset and you’ll
be able to carry on with your online transaction.
I’ve been sent an email by Verified by Visa asking me to
update my details. Is this right?
Verified by Visa will never send you an email requesting you to
update your details for any reason. If you get one of these emails,
it is a scam and you should report it to your card issuer – the
telephone number is on the back of your payment card.
