Card handling procedures
It’s important that you and your staff are
able to process card payments quickly and efficiently. Our
step-by-step guide explains how to accept all types of Visa cards –
chip and magnetic stripe.
What to do when the customer wants to pay by Visa
Depending on your point-of-sale facilities, either you or the
customer will handle the Visa card. The following process assumes
that you handle the card.
Simply process the card in the terminal and follow the prompts
on the screen.
- Check the customer agrees with the transaction total.
- Insert or swipe the card in the reader and follow the prompts
on the screen.
- Ask the customer to enter their PIN or sign the receipt. Remove
the card from the terminal when prompted to do so
- Return the card to the customer, along with their copy of the
receipt
