Visa Europe is a payments business. We support
our members by developing products and services that make payments
easier for people and businesses, bringing speed, security and
simplicity to the transactions they make.
We develop products and services that help our members get the
most out of their payments businesses. There are Visa cards to suit
every need – from individuals to corporates. There are more than
380 million Visa debit, credit, pre-paid and commercial cards in
Europe, which enjoy unsurpassed acceptance around the world.
Innovation is fundamental to our approach. Our goal is to
accelerate and extend the use of cashless payments – helping to
make money flow and bringing tangible benefits for consumers,
retailers, businesses and governments.
We don’t issue cards ourselves, this is done through our
members.
The Visa card range
The Visa Europe card range offers three ways to pay:
- Debit
cards that link directly to customers’ bank accounts,
helping banks to improve the profitability of current accounts
- Credit
cards that give customers what they want: flexibility,
convenience and control
- Prepaid cards
for both consumer and commercial markets
Consumer card types include:
- Visa Classic – the standard card
- Premium cards – Visa Gold, Visa Platinum and Visa Infinite
provide increased benefits for cardholders that will vary depending
on the issuer
- Visa Electron – cardholders have to have sufficient funds
available at the time the payment is made.
Those cards that carry the Visa Plus mark are part of the Plus
multinational interbank network. This means cardholders can use the
world’s largest ATM network.
Visa also offers products and services for small and large
businesses and the public sector. These provide a quick, efficient
and convenient way for organisations to make and receive payments,
simplify procurement processes and manage expenses.
Information management
Organisations that capture and analyse their transaction data
can improve efficiency, check that their controls are functioning
properly, negotiate better terms with suppliers and make better
informed buying decisions.

including:
- Visa IntelliLink Spend Management
Tool – a solution that provides reporting, expense management
and statements
- eSolutions – an exclusive service for Visa Europe Card issuers
and their business customers, delivered in partnership with
Purchasing Card Consultancy Limited (PCCL).
