Management and governance

Visa Europe is an association of over 4,600 European banks and financial institutions.

We are a privately-owned incorporated company. Visa Europe is a co-owner and regional group member of Visa International.

Given the value and volume of spending flowing through the system, it is not surprising that Visa is subject to intense scrutiny.

Governments and regulators expect us to provide open, equitable payment systems. Consumers expect us to deliver convenience and security. Merchants expect us to create opportunities to grow their businesses.

Visa Europe is committed to upholding sound corporate governance. Even though we operate as a membership association, our governance and financial management are in line with the best practices of publicly-traded organisations.

All Visa Europe employees are bound by a strict code of conduct. So that they remain familiar with this code, they complete a compliance procedure on an annual basis.
